§ 66-78. Authority of chief of police to authorize use of police outside corporate limits of city.
Latest version.
The city authorizes its chief of police to make provision for its regularly employed
law enforcement officers to assist any county, municipality or joint airport when,
in the opinion of the chief of police, there exists in such county, municipality or
joint airport a need for the services of additional law enforcement officers to protect
the health, life and property of such county, municipality or joint airport, its inhabitants
and visitors, by reason of riot, unlawful assembly characterized by the use of force
and violence, or threat by three or more persons acting together or without lawful
authority, or during time of natural disaster or manmade calamity. Nothing in this
section shall authorize the chief of police to make such provision with respect to
any county, municipality or joint airport unless such county, municipality or joint
airport has adopted the provisions of V.T.C.A., Local Government Code ch. 362, by
resolution or order of its governing body and has taken the actions required by such
statute.
